Advocacy News:

Advocacy is the newest committee in SEFANN and we are excited

about the possibilities for giving voice to neonatal, professional and healthcare issues.

If you are interested in this work, come to a meeting and let us know. Opportunities are many!!

We have a lot of informational and action websites and helpful links listed below. Start by becoming informed, and then join an initiative or start your own!

At the bottom of the page, click on a downloadable copy of the Political Self-assessment  from NANN's educational conference in 2013.

We started with a meeting for a discussion on becoming active in advocacy and the assessment is where we began.

Go to NANN.org and click on Advocacy to get in touch with up to date information and initiatives.

Advocacy committee chair, Allyson Kayton MSN, ARNP, NNP-BC Allyson serves as the SEFANN Advocacy committee chairperson, and is part of the NANN advocacy committee and state advocacy liaison for NANN. She has attended the Nurse in Washington program this year with NANN and is helping our neonatal nurses stay in touch with current legislation and topics of importance to neonatal nurses, our patients and their families.

NANN has just launched a resources website for advocacy. We can reach our senators and write letters online a lot easier now and our voices together MAKE the difference. Follow this link and you can be an advocate for Neonates. We were part of a letter writing campaign in 2016, to call attention to the Senate Bill S. 2041 "Promoting Lifesaving New Therapies for Neonates Act".
