about the possibilities for giving voice to neonatal, professional and healthcare issues.

We started with a meeting for a discussion on becoming active in advocacy and the assessment is where we began.

Advocacy committee chair, Allyson Kayton MSN, ARNP, NNP-BC Allyson serves as the SEFANN Advocacy committee chairperson, and is part of the NANN advocacy committee and state advocacy liaison for NANN. She has attended the Nurse in Washington program this year with NANN and is helping our neonatal nurses stay in touch with current legislation and topics of importance to neonatal nurses, our patients and their families.
NANN has a resources website for advocacy. We can reach our senators and write letters online a lot easier now and our voices together MAKE the difference. Follow this link and you can be an advocate for Neonates.

The National Association of Neonatal Nurses is very active in advocacy at the national level in issues related to neonatal professionals and their patients. Go to NANN advocacy.
The March of Dimes is always on the forefront of advocating for our special babies and the health of all infants. They have a special page for issues and avodcacy. Go to March of Dimes
The Florida Hospital Association has a very good website with weekly updates on happenings in the Florida legislature related to healthcare. You can connect to the weekly Capitol Update selection here. They also have the AHA Advocacy which will connect you to their website for healthcare advocacy on the state and federal level. You can see what issues are hot and when they are coming up for votes.
The Nursing Community This website is for the collaborative advocacy of many nursing organization. Check it out at the nursingcommunity.org.
